Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities

GITC 2021


Ⅰ. Overview

1. Description

This Challenge tests the ability in use of office programs and multimedia including writing, revising and editing document with speed and accuracy

2. Type of participation: Individual

3. Type of disability: All types of disability
  • There is no restriction on type of disabilities
  • Youth with visual impairment can attend eTool Challenge_Powerpoint
  • Also, youth without visual impairment can attend eTool Challenge_Excel, unlike before

4. Time: 50 mins for 10 questions (70 mins for screen reader user)

5. Types of test

Excel: Skills in use of the functions in Excel, and ability on data calculation in accordance with conditions in written data sheet in the form of the multiple choice questions

Powerpoint: Ability to make PPT slides in Powerpoint

Ⅱ. Environment and Operation

1. Place and equipment

No restriction on place for participation. Both on-site participation(group participation and being monitored through Zoom) and off-site participation(individuals) in any comfortable places such as home, school, café are allowed (Off-site/individual participation is not monitored and scale of prize is different)

No restriction in equipment, mobile phone, laptop, desktop computer can be used.

Software for participants with visual impairment: Jaws and NVDA

2. Rules of the test and submission

The Challenge will be held on June 17th (Preliminary round); Oct 20th (Final round)

The participants can log in before the test starts

The questions of the test will be uploaded on GITC 2021 official website on the day of the test

The answer should be written in English

Ⅲ. Evaluation

1. Evaluation and Criteria

It is mandatory to submit answer in English and if not, no scores will be given

Check whether instructions are well carried out

Check whether answer is accurately written

Priority for even scores

  • 1st priority

    Level of disabilities
  • 2nd priority

    Younger age

Ⅳ. Penalty for cheating: only for participants monitored through Zoom

1. Warning

Disturbing other participants

Leaving the place without permission

2. Disqualification

After 3 times of warning are given

When participants did not log on their real name on Zoom

When used medium that can share information with others, including email, facebook and etc.

When used other external storage device such as USB memory
